After having finished their work on the OPAL pipeline in Germany, the LIEBHERR RL64 pipe layers in our rental fleet are already on their way to the next project. On the first of August, 5 LIEBHERR RL64's (together with 2 units CAT594) embarked in the port of Moerdijk on the vessel "Sormovskiy 3055", a 119 meter long cargo vessel with a dead weight of 3804 t. The Moerdijk terminal crane from Van der Vlist, one of our regular partners for heavy transports, lifted the units with childish ease into the vessel. Looking at the pictures you would almost think that it is one of the 1 : 50 scale models, instead of a 45 tons machine ! With a breadth of 13 meters, the ship can easily store two base machines side-by-side. As per our requirements, the machines are stored under deck, to minimise the risk of salt water corrosion. The machines are in perfect condition and ready to work when they leave our premises and the loading in the port is monitored by our own Technical Supervisor, everything to make sure to keep them in the best condition !
